More recently, Grings has been the coach of the women’s FC Zurich since 2021. The engagement is very reminiscent of that of Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the Swiss national team coach from 2012 to 2018: their birthplaces are just over 10 kilometers apart, during her days of players played together for 8 years at FCR 2001 Duisburg. They both began their coaching careers there, despite the fact that the club was now called MSV Duisburg Frauen after the insolvency when Grings took over.

grings knows how to score goals

By the way, Grings was a player during Voss-Tecklenburg’s time as coach in Duisburg. She was known as an icy striker: she scored 353 goals in 271 games for FCR. Also at FCZ, where she also worked as a player from 2011 to 2013, she scored significantly more goals (55) than games (31).

The first highlight for Grings as national coach will be the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Switzerland meets the Philippines, Norway and New Zealand there.
