The most expensive hot dog in the world, for 250 francs.
The snack stall of the Zurich catering company Happy Souls sells the “world’s most expensive hot dog” at the Rudolfs Christmas market in Lucerne. The noble version of the sausage boiled in a soft bun costs 250 francs, including exclusive ingredients.
On its website, “Happy Soul” praises itself as “the maker of the world’s most expensive hot dogs.” For 250 francs you’d get a saffron bun with fine Kobe beef sausage, Alba white truffle, Cristal Roederer champagne foam, a gold-dipped peppercorn, and chocolate crumble.

A matter of taste?
The Alba white truffle is probably the most expensive truffle in the world. The bottle of Cristal Roederer also has its price, and a kilo of authentic Kobe beef from Japan costs a few hundred francs.
Zurich’s 250-franc hot dog has been around for years. Available in street food markets. Always the same price.
A little patience would also be required. The sausages are freshly prepared. Waiting time for an order? 40 minutes. In the end it may be a matter of taste, eh, patience. Or just the price. A Blick-reading reporter said, “It was too expensive for me.” (kees)
